Chopping the roof off a coupe is bound to result in reduced chassis stiffness no matter how many reinforcements the manufacturer throws in to compensate. Moreover, those reinforcements add weight, which results in inferior performance.It’s a good thing then that the Lamborghini Aventador's all-new 6.5-liter V12 puts out a hefty 690HP, so the new Roadster is certainly not lacking in the performance department.
In fact, Lamborghini claims there’s minimal loss of stiffness and just a 50 kg (110 pound) penalty and that the 217 mph (349 km/h) Roadstermatches the coupe for speed at the Nardo high-speed test track.
The Roadster’s launch took place in Miami less than 10 days ago. Apparently, Autocar editor Steve Sutcliffe was there and took the brand-new Lambo for a spin both on the road and the Homestead racetrack.
