Allegedly Official Photos of MG's New CS Crossover Concept Surface Online

In the UK, MG currently sells one model, the MG6, but they will also be adding the MG3 supermini and the VW Golf-sized MG5 hatch to their range, according to the automaker's official website. It also lists the Icon crossover conceptunder the Models section hinting at the fact that they're considering such a vehicle. However, if a report from China's Autohome is to be believed, they've had a change of heart with the styling direction for it. The Icon concept was a retro-inspired vehicle, drawing heavily on the MGB, a car from the better part of the company's history, but now with the new CS crossover, they've gone for something completely different and much more modern-looking.
The photos you see, are said to have made their way onto the web unofficially, prior to the concept's debut at next week's 2013 Shanghai motor show. Also, the radical change in style could spell the end of the Icon as a production model, which will most likely be replaced by a toned down version of the latest concept.
The CS reportedly shares its platform with the China-market MG5 hatch, and it gets its power from a turbocharged 1.5-liter petrol engine, which comes courtesy of MG's owners, SAIC of China – only the front wheels will be driven. We will have more details closer to the official unveiling, which will take place after the opening of the Chinese motor show on April 20.
