If you want to enjoy a GT-R on the racing track and can afford it, Nissan and its in-house performance and racing division Nismo offer a racecar iteration that conforms to FIA GT3 regulations. The 2012 model Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3, which was released in March this year and managed several victories across the world in the hands of NDDP RACING (Nismo) as well as customer racing teams, is now giving its place to a newer 2013 model sporting a bevy of upgrades.
According to Nismo, the biggest change for 2013 model of its GT3-spec racer concerns the 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that gains new camshaft timing as well as reinforced moving parts to improve durability. The engine is offered in various states of tune, with outputs starting from 550PS (543hp) and 637Nm (470 lb-ft).
The Japanese company says it made several modifications to the body to enhance aerodynamics, such as the addition of new canards to the front, enlarged front fender louvers and a revised rear wing.
Other changes include improvements to the braking system, the suspension settings and the transmission.
The 2013 GT-R Nismo GT3 is built on demand with the carmaker accepting orders from this month. Prices, excluding tax, for Japan, North and South America, and Oceania start from ¥ 35,000,000 (about US$431,000 or €337,000), and for Europe, from GBP 270,000 (US$428,000 or €335,000 at today's exchange rates).
Nismo said it is also preparing a retrofit kit for owners of the 2012 model who want to apply all upgrades of the 2013 model on their cars.
