Motor Trend Not Entirely Convinced by the 565HP, US$300k 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish

|

It appears that the limited-production One-77had a double mission: put some much-needed cash into Aston Martin’s coffers, something it certainly did with a price tag in excess of US$1 million, and to act as a test-bed for technologies used in other production models. The first to benefit from the lessons learned on the hypercar is Aston’s DBS replacement as the brand’s flagship, the 2014 Vanquish.
It sports a carbon fiber bodywork, carbon ceramic brakes as standard and a carbon fiber and aluminum chassis, while its 6.0-liter V12 has been mounted lower and further back in the engine bay for a front-mid engine layout.
The 565HP and 619 Nm (457 lb-ft) of torque may place it at the top of the Aston range, as does its US$282,100 base price, but the car tested by Motor Trend cost a little over 300k – US$301,030 to be precise – and that brings it up against some pretty stiff competition like the much more powerful Ferrari F12berlinetta.
The new Vanquish definitely looks and sounds great, but is it really worth its premium sticker price?
You can learn what Motor Trend's Carlos Lago thinks about it after testing it on the road and the track by watching the video that follows the break.
