McLaren Teases Production P1, Shows Digital Dash in Pictures and Video

|

With a rendering of the exterior, plus two images and a video of the digital instrument cluster, McLaren confirmed the production-ready version of its highly anticipated P1 hypercar for next month's Geneva auto show. From a recent private event in New York City, we learned that the exterior of the P1 will remain largely intact, sans some minor changes to the vents of the front bumper and the mesh insert at the rear end, so no surprised there.
This, however, is the first time we see a part of the interior and in particular, the race-inspired digital dash readout that includes a "Race" mode with F1-style shift indicator.
"On selecting Race mode, the large double element adjustable ‘active’ rear wing extends, and the pitch of the wing alters into an optimal aerodynamic position," said McLaren in a statement. "In Race mode the screen includes a bank of lights across the top, which illuminate green, followed by red and finally blue. These act as a shift indicator, as in a Formula 1 car."
McLaren said it will release full information on the car that will compete head on with Ferrari's Enzo replacement and the new Porsche 918 Spyder "as we get closer to Geneva".
