Spoiler-Less McLaren P1 Filmed Revving Outside of Company HQ

|

If you want a hybrid hypercar that is at the top of the technological and technical food chain, then the McLaren P1 and the Ferrari LaFerrari would be among your first options. It’s just like having to choose between a Ferrari 458 Italia and a McLaren MP4-12C – you either want cold, clinical precision, or you want a bit less of that and more ear caramel and Italian passion.
I mean, the McLaren P1, the Woking-based manufacturer’s flagship offering, will never hope to sound as good as the LaFerrari, with its non-turbo V12 engine. The British car, on the other hand, uses pretty much the same twin-turbo 3.8-liter engine as its smaller siblings, boosted by electricity up to a combined total of 903-horses.
Not trying for one second to suggest that either of the two hybrid hypercars is a bad choice, but it really depends on what you want. Just have a listen to this phone camera video posted by Autocar. Sure, the P1 is loud and sounds mean, but it will always be the more nerdy choice of the two.
