Infiniti Unveils the 2014 QX60 Hybrid at the New York Auto Show

Aside from the Q50 sedanInfiniti also displayed the 2014 QX60 Hybrid at the New York Auto Show. The luxury crossover uses the same hybrid powertrain as the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Hybridon which it is based and will add to Infiniti’s range of hybrid models that include the Q50 and Q70 Hybrid (currently named M Hybrid).
Like the Pathfinder Hybrid, the QX60 Hybrid is projected to average 26 mpg (9 liters/100 km) - a 24 percent increase over non-hybrid QX60 models - with driving range expected to exceed 500 miles (805 km). The hybrid version of the seven-seat luxury crossover, formerly known as the JX series, will be priced about $3,000 above the non-hybrid models, which start from $41,400.
The hybrid powertrain consists of a 4-cylinder 2.5-liter supercharged engine and 15 kW (20 hp) electric motor connected to a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). The system develops a combined output of 250 horsepower, equivalent to the 3.5-liter V6’s 260 hp but with the advantage of 4-cylinder fuel economy. The QX60 Hybrid also features an Intelligent Regenerative Braking system that partially recharges the battery during vehicle braking.
The car’s compact lithium-ion battery is located under the 3rd row seat, so that the QX60 Hybrid maintains its flat rear floor for easier passenger access to the rear seats, with cargo room not affected.
The QX60 Hybrid offers a wide range of available advanced technologies, such as Backup Collision Intervention (BCI) and Around View Monitor.
Infiniti’s new gasoline-electric hybrid will go on sale this summer in the United States.
