2014 Mazda6 on Sale Now Priced from $20,880*, Returns up to 30MPG Combined

|

We’ve already told the pricing details about the all-new 2014 Mazda6 sedan, since the Japanese carmaker quietly posted the MSRPs on its website last month, but now we have full details on the equipment specifications of each trim level as well as the official EPA fuel economy figures.Mazda's new entry in the highly competitive mid-size sedan segment is currently offered in the States only with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine generating 184 horsepower at 5,700 rpm and 185 lb-ft of torque at 3,250 rpm (a turbocharged diesel option has been confirmed for the second half of 2013).
The gasoline unit is connected to either a six-speed manual gearbox driving the front wheels, in which case, it returns EPA fuel economy of 25mpg city, 37mpg highway and 29mpg combined, or a six-speed automatic transmission EPA rated at 26mpg city, 38mpg highway and 30mpg combined.
These numbers either best or match those of the new four-cylinder Honda Accord sedan that returns 24mpg city, 34mpg highway and 28mpg combined with a 6sp manual, and 27mpg city, 36mpg highway and 30mpg combined with a CVT.
The new Mazda6 is offered in three trims starting with the entry i Sport priced from $20,880 MSRP, an increase of $155 from the previous model year, not including $795 destination charge* (Alaska $840).
Fitted with a manual transmission, standard equipment for the i Sport includes a push-button start, air conditioning, power windows, a tilt-and-telescopic adjustable steering column, steering-wheel-mounted audio and cruise control functions, 17-inch alloy wheels and auxiliary and USB connection ports.
If opted with an automatic transmission, added features include Bluetooth phone/audio connectivity, a 5.8-inch color touch screen display, a rearview camera, HD Radio Technology, Pandora, Radio Broadcast Data System program information, SMS text message receipt/delivery, E911 automatic emergency notification and audio menu voice command.
Next up is the mid-level i Touring trim ($24,495 MSRP + destination charges) that rides on larger 19-inch wheels. When equipped with the optional SKYACTIV-Drive automatic, it gets all the aforementioned features plus dual-zone automatic climate control with rear seat vents, leatherette-trimmed sport seats, a six-way power driver's seat and a Commander Switch for operating functions on the 5.8-inch display.
At the top end of the range, we find the i Grand Touring that starts at $29,495 MSRP (plus destination). It comes equipped with the Touring Technology Package that adds a host of features such as a TomTom navigation system, Bose speakers, keyless entry System, automatic on/off headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with Homelink, an auto-dimming driver's side outside mirror, heated outside mirrors and the all-new Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) system.
Furthermore, it adds platinum silver 19-inch alloy wheels, a power moonroof, a rear lip spoiler, bi-xenon high-intensity discharge (HID) headlights with auto leveling, leather-trimmed sport seats with heated front seats, an eight-way power driver's seat with power lumbar support, a four-way power front passenger seat, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters and Sirius Satellite Radio with a four-month complimentary subscription.
